Home Port: Wrightsville Beach, NC IP Logged | Long story, but the short version is that I am pretty sure I have some "junk" in my port fuel tank on my 411 that is periodically covering the fuel pick-up. Two questions:
1) does anyone know if there is a screen covering the fuel pick-up
2) the best way to access the port fuel tank pick-up to check and remove any debris.
I assume, and the collective wisdom on the forum can confirm or steer me in a different direction, that the only way to acces the port tank is to remove the couch in the salon and access the fuel solenoid above the tank. From there I should be able to remove the solenoid and access the pick-up at the bottom of the tank.
I have once already removed the couch and checked the solenoid for proper operation and to make sure that there was no debis in it. All was clear and it appeared to be working properly. I will check the line between the fuel solenoid and the racor to make sure it is clean this weekend and then move on to the pick-up.
Both filters have already been replaced so that has already been ruled out and the cause of the problem leads itself to suggest it is not a filter issue anyway. I look forward to any comments or suggestions.

IP Logged | Capt Keith,
To my knowledge there is no screen over the pick up. When I asked Meridian how much usable fuel there was in my (04) 411 they told me the pick up was a ½ inch off the bottom of the tank. Sorry but I know of no way except removing the couch.

Home Port: Wrightsville Beach, NC IP Logged | Thanks for the reply Dan. Now the issue is going to be how to clean the tank if, in fact, there is something at the bottom of the tank that is periodically covering the pick-up intake. |

Home Port: Wrightsville Beach, NC IP Logged | John - boat will run fine for a couple of hours, and then I will drastically loose RPM on the port motor. On occasion, the engine will stall. The engine will always fire right back up. Usually, as the port RPM's are dropping, I will bring both engines down to about 1000 RPMs for a few seconds, then power back up to cruise. I may have to do this several times over the course of 10 to 15 minutes. The boat could run for the next hour or two just fine or it could do it all over again.
I am 99% sure that I have something that is clogging the pick-up. When I reduce the suction, it will clear itself for a period of time. I actually had the same problem when I first got the boat with the starboard engine. My mechanic found a piece of blue painter's tape caught in the fuel solenoid. So my guess is that I have got a similar issue.
