IP Logged | OK, looking to change to secondary fuel filters on the mains, looks like there is no easy way to get a jug or bucket between the filter and the belt cover to catch any fuel spillage from old filters. What do you guys have for tricks, advice, etc..?
Curious question as well; what do you do with the old filters/fuel, etc. for 'green' and proper disposal? I would up with about a quart of old crappy diesel from changing the prinary filter on the genny, not sure what to do with the crud..... | | | | | |

IP Logged | The really "green way" ??...............Turn the filter over and drain the 90-99% of the fuel that comes out easy into a clean 1-2 quart container.. Let it settle for 30 minutes and then dump it back into the fuel tank where it really belongs and can be properly disposed of like all of your fuel.. Any water will a at the bottom of the container along with any particles that you would not want back in your fuel tank..Just try it once and you will be a believer and make your options for disposal of the filetr much easier and better for all........
If your fuel in the on-engine/last chance fuel filter if that bad, then you will lose your engines CR fuel system long before it's time, that I will guarantee you.. NEVER send crap fuel to that filter or rely on it to save your fuel system...The fuel that goes to it should be as clean or cleaner than the fuel that actually feeds 99% of all mechanical engines on the market ( like a 370 or 450 Diamond for instance) ..And that's by the Cummins Book, not mine..Mine is way stricter and is for good reason........................
Your filter is Fleetguard FF5488 and DO NOT prefill it--Install with a tad on clean engine oil on the gasket. a good "hand-tight" job is all you need, and fill it cycling theign key 4-6 times until the engine clears itself..
