Home Port: Clinton, CT IP Logged | We are heading to Block Island tomorrow and plan to stay to Thursday. Anyone else going to be there?
We will likely anchor in the Great Salt Pond unless a mooring is available when we arrive.
Here's to good weather, calm seas and time on the water!! |

Home Port: Live in NJ. Boat in Connecticut & Rhode Island IP Logged | Have a great trip. We were planning to go over there Friday afternoon for the weekend but I had a technician working on my starting problem instead. The weather will be great. |

IP Logged | Have a Great Trip Brian,
We were trying to go last week, but a typical "something came up " cancelled that one.
Hopefully going to make it in the next two weeks.
Forecast looks good for you. Enjoy!!!!! |

Home Port: Clinton, CT IP Logged | Well the crew assumed their cruise positions and off to Block we went.
Arrived with the Coast Guard facility at the entrance to the GreAt Salt Pond.
Emptier than I have seen. We arrived at 3:30 Sunday afternoon and there were plenty of mooring balls and lots of space for anchorage. Very unusual given the nice weather.

Home Port: Clinton, CT IP Logged | Rained during the afternoon today which was fine since we biked and shopped until noon and a nap was in order. Rain stopped around 3 and we went to the beach for a few hours for fun in the surf and sand. Dinner at The Oar was great and included a wonderful sunset. Doing our best to contribute to the economy.
Dwanye - we are heading back Thursday and will hopefully be at the marina Sat and Sunday. Did you make it to the Thimbles?. |

Home Port: Clinton, CT IP Logged | Five days at Block Island sure makes it difficult to come to work today. Trip home yesterday was interesting. 3-5 footers on the bow with spray over the helm.
Boat handled things fine but my 8 year old didn't like it so she went to sleep.
Once we were inside Montauk point things calmed down quite a bit.
As I was approaching the Race south of Fisher's Island I saw something odd, like a lighthouse off to the right of Little Gull Island. The problem is that I never recalled seeing a lighthouse there and after checking the chart confirmed that there shouldn't be a lighthouse there. Approaching with caution, I soon realized it was a U.S. Naval Sub surfaced and slowly putting around. Given that I was just South of the Thames River, home to General Dynamics and a U.S. Naval Sub Base it shouldn't have been too surprising but it was the first time I saw one underway in such close range. Once I knew it was a sub, I changed course for fear of being torpedoed "unintentionally."
Once I arrived at the marina, I was also treated to the sight of a transient 2009 441 at the dock (right next to your 341 Dwyane.) So our dock now has a 341, a 411, and a 441 with a 580 two docks down. Not bad. |
