Have a great time at Watch Hill. Excellent holding ground if you are planning to anchor out. We do there all the time.

I am heading to Greenport on Friday and then plan to bring the boat down to Stamford, CT for a few weeks.

Sal - Did you make it to Watch Hill or cancel due to weather? Weekend wasn't the best and of course the weekdays coming look perfect.

Bill - Made it to Stamford on Friday. Check your PMs.

Hi Sal sorry I missed you - just saw your post.

We'll be at Sunset Harbor marina in Patchogue next weekend, then the following weekend we will be heading up to Newport for the 4th of July, then Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard, and Montauk on the way back. We'll be gone for a little over 2 weeks. Hopefully we'll catch up with you later in the summer -

Vic

Vic,

Did you make it out to the Nantucket and MV? We are scheduled to go Aug 7 - 15th.

I have mooring reservations in Edgartown and at Nantucket Moorings. How long was the run from Newport to MV and MV to Nantucket?

Our plan is to go from Clinton to Block and spend Sat night on the hook. Then from Block to Edgartown for 2 nights. Then to Nantucket for 3 nights. Return via Hadley Harbor and Watch Hill. Any comments or suggestions for us on this trip?

Hey guys

We had an incredible trip. The first leg was from my home port Eastport on the south shore of Long Island to Newport. We stayed at the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina. Nice place, well located. Great fireworks from Fort Adams over the harbor. This leg took us about 7 hours, but most of that was crawling align the south shore at low tide, taking it easy.

From Newport to Nantucket was fairly long as well, I think about 5-6 hours at 18 knots. Nantucket was our favorite stop. Very quaint island. Many great meals. We loved the Straight Wharf, Town, Le Languedoc, and Toppers. We were there for 4 or 5 days and could have stayed longer. Plenty to see and do. One thing we liked with the kids was the 'Critter Cruise', basically a fishing charter for kids, pulling Lobster traps, fishing, they really enjoyed it. Great pictures.

The next leg was to Oak Bluffs on Martha's Vineyard. Not a long run, only around 1.5-2 hours at 18 knots. Oak Bluffs was a big disappointment. No privacy (a public sidewalk runs behind the slips). The town is not nice - extremely commercial. The biggest problem was the bulkhead. At low tide it is 5-6 ft and extremely difficult to do with dogs. We left after one day. MarinaLife was able to get us into Vineyard Haven, which we liked very much. Little beach, rope swing for the kids, a captains lounge self-serve bar on the upper deck, good restaurant the Blue Canoe right next door. Very nice staff - they cater to mega yachts so well run. We had 3 120+ ft boats around us at one point. We would definitely go back. We really liked Edgartown but could not get into the marina - would love to hear what you think of it.

We had a little bad weather and had to delay our run to Montauk, but even doing that it still sucked. Rough seas (8 rooters in Rhode Island Sound - worst we have been in. Boat was fine, crew not so good. But eventually made it (about 5 miserable hours). Great marina, it has a lot. We had a really nice dinner and bonfire at the Surf Lodge. Expensive drinks But great - similar to Sunset Beach on Shelter Island.

Have a great trip - let me know if I can answer any other questions -

Vic
