Home Port: sidney b.c. IP Logged | hi mike,,,,,i have built a # of oil change systems in my old 45 and my 3- 47's,,( bayliners ),,i have always used a groco reversing vane pump, and then made a custom valve manifold,,i plumbed into the engines and the generator and then added a 4th valve with about 6' of 5/8" od hose that i used to pump out the tx's..mounted the whole setup at the rear of the engine room near the engine water pick ups...you can buy systems that are already made but if you do,,,do not buy one that has a rubber impeller,,they do not last,,,my current 540 has a reverso with a rubber impeller just a bit bigger than a life saver candy,,,can't see why they would even make one with a pump like that,,i will be changing the pump for a vane pump,,so get one that has a vane or a gear pump and you will be happy...it will also make oil changes much simpler,,,doug.

IP Logged | Don't know the systems you are talking about but a gear pump is really the only thing you should even consider. I am using a gear pump with an attached container and of course I wish I had a fixed mounted system with a manifold but I can deal with this for the time being.

Home Port: Miami, Florida IP Logged | My captain researched both Reverso and X-Changer extensively before buying and installing ours. His conclusion is that they are both good and will perform as intended. Reverso cost much more and since all hoses connect from the same side, it makes for a much neater installation. The X-changer cost much less and the hoses connect from the left, right and bottom so the installation isn't as neat as on the Reverso, but it works just as well and the price savings might be worth it for you.
The end determining factor was whichever one we could find on ebay or CraigsList for a super good price.
That led us to buying the X-Changer on craigs list from a guy that bought it a few years ago but never installed it so it had been riding around in his engine room for a few years. We got the 5-port one brand new, (but 4 years old) still in the box, (a dusty dirty box) with all hoses and connectors for $225 and it works perfect and we love it!

Home Port: Tacoma,Wa IP Logged | I had a Reverso on my last boat. Put a Jabsco Model # 17820 on my 391. It comes with 3 ports with ball valves from the facory and plugged ports to add 2 more valves. I see them online for $330.00 or less. About half the price of a 5 valve Reverso.
