Our 368 has always had a shudder when accelerating. It's smooth at up to 1500 rpm but 1500 to 2200 rpm there is a pronounced shudder to the vessel. At WOT or a few hundred rpm less it's fine. The shudder also happens during deceleration at the same RPM's. I've had the shafts aligned and the props balanced but the shudder persists. Tab position makes no difference. We also have to run full down tab at cruising speed and the bow is still very high. It seems the boat never really gets on plane. Top speed is 28mph with full fuel and water and 3 people on board. Comments? suggestions? Personally, I think the boat is under tabbed and under powered. The 368 we sea trialed didn't have the shudder and seemed to get on plane just fine with the 380 hp cummins. I want to upgrade our 330's to 380's but the quotes I've gotten to have it done have been ridiculous. There is no cummins dealer close by so they are hitting me hard for travel time. I have read that the power uprate is well worth it but don't think it will stop the shuddering. Also, this year there is a chirping sound that can be heard at idle forward speed. The shaft seals seem fine with no spray or carbon noticeable. The sound goes away when I put the power levers in neutral so it is definetly drive/transmission related. The boat has just 85 hours on each engine.

This boat has about every option on it including the lower helm.
We now own 2004 381 with 8.1.We love this boat but more room would be nice.
Thanks in advance!
Side note: Would anyone know how to find out the original equipment on a used 411 as it was shipped from factory?
Tried going thru Marinemax but they said they did not sell the boat by the serial number.

Just finished bringing the boat from Jacksonville to Annapolis. Had a great time cruising with stops alternating between marinas and anchoring out. Again everything worked out, but this time we had great weather. Best fuel stops were in Moorehead City Guf fuel dock and Tidewater Yacht in Portsmouth Va at mile 0. They were the cheapest on the ICW, followed by Moorehead and Osprey Marina SC ,and Palm Cove in Fla.
Really enjoyed the Waccamaw and had a great calm spot on Bull Creek . Stayed at a nice spot on the north end of the Pungo River just south of the canal that was great also.
The greatest thing was the boat ran flawlessly again. A real pleasure. Cioa for now doran

Recently found out that there is water and sediments in my racor fuel filter that look like algae.Wondered if anybody has polished there fuel tanks on a Meridean 490 Pilot House and if it cured the problem. Engines on board are 380 Qsb and I'm worried that i can damage the injectors or fuel pump if i only drain the water seperator and not tent to the tank?

We have a 2007 391 Meridian. We bought the boat and it was delivered to us in April 2011. The engines were on the recall list and they replaced the engines before bringing the boat to MO.

The CO alarms didn't go off last year at all. About a month ago we had guests on the boat with a child and while in motion, they were in and out alot. That night, in the middle of the night, the CO alarm went off in the salon. We were in the dock and hooked to shore power. I got up reset it, went to bed and a while later, it went off again and would not reset. My husband cut the power to that alarm. A bit later the alarm went off in the lower bedroom, and we did get it to reset. We opened the door and put a fan in the salon and the didn't go off again. The next morning , my husband re-wired the one he had cut, and all was well. I will say, there was a guy working on his boat about 5 slips away and revving his engines. I didn't know if that would have set our alarms off, as the boat was closed up and the A/C on.( again we were hooked to shore power)
It worried me though, so I went to Lowe's and bought a detector and just keep it laying in the salon area. The last 2 weekends we have been on the boat, the Lowe's detector has sounded, but not the boat alarms.

Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening? I just don't understand why if you are hooked to shore power, they would sound.

Thanks!

I just wanted to give a shout out to Depco Pump Company in Clearwater, Florida.

The family and I spent the weekend on the boat and Sunday afternoon my admiral let the fresh water pump run for awhile after the tank was empty. While this should not have been an issue since the FloJet pumps are designed to run dry, I could not get the pump to prime after refilling the water tank.

So out come the tools and a quick pump disassemble. Nothing usual discovered but I did wash and rinse out some small debris. While reassembling the pump I snapped off the top of the hex bolt on one of four of the bolts on pump.

The good news is that the pump now works again if I put my finger over the hole where the broken bolt is. The bad news is that no hardware store or online store seems to carry the 5mm x 95mm hex bolt.

After searching the web, my only option appeared to be purchasing a "service kit" which included the bolts and other parts for about $50. However, on a whim, I called Depco Pump Company and explained my problem. I was transferred to the service department and Andy said he had some extra bolts from previous repairs and would send one up to me no charge.

Not a big deal money-wise but a gesture that is not commonly seen. Anyway, just thought I'd share since others may need parts or replacement pumps and Depco Pump may be worth a try.

This is what I came up with to have wireless speakers for the boat. I purchased waterproof speakers from The Source (Radio Shack in the U.S.) for about $100 and had custom bags made with mesh in the middle section and a velcro band so I can attached them anywhere on the rails. I had a tech install the receiver to the radio and the speakers work anywhere including on the dock. The speaker quality is pretty good, certainly not Bose quality but not bad.
